I am going to be shooting an MMA event this weekend, looking forward to it! Will be a first for me!

Got to play with flash photography for the first time this weekend at a local strobist meetup, mind boggling in a good way.
Since I just quit my job, my next shoot will be as a full time freelance photographer. Does that count?
Just shot minor-league baseball for the first time. I shoot some sports, but never baseball. Plan to do other “firsts” all this week!

every time know need to shoot somtehing more than once. but i think i will have to because i am going college to do a photography course and i think it has alot of model shoots.
Weekend before last actually… frustrated at trying to get unwilling people to come pose for me at the times I wanted (hey!! It’s summer and that sun rises early and sets late!) I got myself up one Saturday morning and mosied along to a local skateboard park and quarry to take some photos of more willing inanimate objects.. you can see a bit here…

So, yesterday with rain outside and the water drop post over at Strobist running through my head, I took out the gear and set up in the basement.
It felt good to play around and experiment.

For me lately it’s shooting WITH something new, from a new iPHone app, to my new Lensbaby Composer or my newly converted infrared camera.
I find using new or different tools stimulates my creativity, and allows me to see things, even things I commonly shoot, with a whole new perspective.
I am stepping out of my box on my facebook account at 8 tonight. I’m excited about that.
Last Saturday actually. Went out for a shoot with some friends and decided I’d shoot some portrait with a wideangle instead of the usual telezoom.
Turned out to be the most fun I ever had during a shoot, go figure :/

Yesterday afternoon. Went on a trip to Moab and Arches National Park over the weekend. I had a blast taken photographs of stuff I’ve not seen before.

For the last 15 days I have been shooting for pure pleasure on a trip through Holland and France. Broke rules, walked where I shouldn’t have, tried new angles and used new gear, pushed my brain and eyes in new directions to derail my track. Loved it!

For the first time, I contacted the media specialist at a local museum, and was granted total access to the outside and at a major inside exhibit.

Well, actualy it was yesterday, got a hold of Lubitel 166B, bought a 120 format film for it and made a couple of shots for the first time with a full manual film camera. Thanks for the inspiration Chase!

I shot for a whole day with the 14-24mm, a lens I’m not usually comfortable using. Fun!

Last Friday! Living in NYC for over 10+ years, had always wanted to shoot in Hunts Point (famous for HBO documentary years ago called “Hookers From the Point”). Didn’t see any hookers- damn!- but lots of junkyards and auto graveyards.

12/06/08 – Shot my first photos that were taken specifically for entry into a juried show – one of four shots entered actually made it in to the show.
Memorial Day Weekend 2009. Shot with Hasselblad H3D, Profoto, and Hensel gear for the first time, and shot a fashion-ey editorial for the first time. Also, first time in working with a bigger crew (digitech, hair, mua, and army of assistants). Was scared out of my mind the days coming up to it. But it all turned out okay.
Yeap. Last week, I shot my first wedding and on the weekend after next I'll be shooting fashion and a street motorcycle stunting team.
I'll pass on the details when I'm done. Eye opening indeed!
For all the climbing and shooting i've done, i've never really taken the opportunity to step back and actually shoot it eriously…until a few weeks ago that is. Felt good to compose some different photo's for a change. peace

I'm lucky. Photography is no longer a profession for me. I only do it for fun and creative stimulation. Since I don't have a client telling me what to do, everything I shoot is for my own whimsy. I strive to shoot something new, or at least in a new way, every time I pick up the camera, which is often.

Last week!! – i was able to do a session for my friend of his 3 month old son. First time working with a baby and it was pretty cool.
Last friday night, dance performers and fire.
I actually tried shooting velo cycle racers. It was a lot of fun and free PBR at the end.
i'll have to think about this the next time i photograph.

I saw your talk at the ADCD last night. It was rockin'. So here's what I did:
I've always wanted to shoot skaters and never have. So this morning I went to the Denver Skatepark, outside LoDo about a mile from where your talk was. At first I sat on the sidelines and watched everything with a telephoto. That's not what I wanted to do, but it's easy. It took me an hour, but I put on the 10 mm lens, asked them if I could shoot (it was remarkably easy: "Dude, you mind if shoot you?") and jumped in the middle of the bowl. I lay down on the ground and the first skater slammed his board into my lens and broke off the front ring. No worries. I jumped into the bowl and kept shooting. One guy at first, then his buddy, then everyone wanted to ride for me. "They're following you around, man!"
350 shots and two hours later I had a handful of great pics and some great energy. Thanks for the inspiration.
