Dasein: Photo of the Day

Car Fire

Dasein: An invitation to hang could not be going better.  Thanks to all of your participation, I get to spin through thousands of great images ever day.  I’m having a blast, and I thought you might like to see what’s got me fired up right now.  My photo of the day for today is this priceless had-to-be-there moment from kinugrove.

Other photos that have me jazzed?  See what we’ve got hanging in the gallery at the Ace Hotel today after the jump…

Hey man! Wish I could visit the gallery in person as it is looking sweet but live too far away and I am far too poor. Love the idea behind this project, I have been a big advocate for the importance of the snapshot for a long time and in fact about 50% of all my images are snapshots. Keep up the good work man, always awesome to see what ideas you conjure up. Great to see a few of my images making the cut too.

I have no idea if any of mine were chosen or not. I really wish that I knew, but ulimately that’s really not the point. There is this interesting vibe, collective, synergy that is going on right now in the creative world. Chase is really at the front of this. I’m just happy to be a part of it.

    Chase,

Serious comment this time. Will constantly experimenting with ideas/styles a sure fire way of blowing your career in photography? Even if those ideas have been done before?

I post this here because I was just reading The Short Guide to Writing About Art and the first thing it mentions was about an exhibition in ’98 by the SF Museum of Modern Art that displayed snapshots taken by anonymous amateurs. Sounded familiar so I had to come back :p.

Very well deserved but some awesome efforts overall.

I never realized that photos of people’s feet were so popular until I saw the results of this project on tumblr. However, photos of people’s feet appear under-represented in the photo of the gallery above.

    Chase,
I live in a small town in Ohio will be in New York City. On Tuesday June 14 for a photo day. 8 hour in the city with a driver and suv. 16 stops and I would like to add the hotel as a stop to see your project . Will it be on display at that time?
    Thank you, Charles
