Transformed Photographer Chris Jordan on chasejarvis LIVE — Thursday Sept 8

Lots of people would have called Chris Jordan crazy to leave a career as a well-paid attorney to pursue a career as a fine art photographer with a cause-based mission to document the human impact on the world. That is, they would have called him crazy, until they saw his work and the impact that work is having. Gallery shows, museums, speaking gigs, documentary films, and moving the world to action.

That’s why you must not miss chasejarvis LIVE this Thursday, September 8th, where we’ll be spending an hour with Chris. The guy oozes inspiration to photographers that want to make a difference in the world AND–importantly–those people who are stuck in a job that’s not giving them the fulfilled, who want to transition to the creative life that they seek to live. We’ll look at Chris’ stunning work, talk in detail about his meteoric transition from corporate gig to photographer, and we’ll learn a helluva lot in the process. When I posted a story about Chris a few months ago, I know you were moved–I got hundreds of comments and more than 30,000 of you watched the short video clip (bottom of this post again…). This will be an amazing opportunity to have Chris answer your questions during the live show using #cjLIVE.

I came across Chris’s work a couple of years ago. Recently saw his Midway project and became VERY inspired. Will definitely be tuning in for this episode. Big thanks!

It is trauma that makes people change if they are willing to face it. Otherwise what we see, experience is not a reality. I think people need to have a strong emotional reaction, beyond “oh that’s terrible”and they just move on in their life. The don’t stop to consider what they do and what others do, impact far more than just their own life.

I’ll try and drop in and catch the show.

Yes, I remember seeing the images of the “Midway” project, very moving. Looking forward to the session on CJL. Difficult not to feel despair, impossible to imagine how much plastic is actually floating out there.

This work is probably the best argument for straight photography that I’ve ever seen on the net. The very first thing that everybody wonders when they see the pics is the same …”is it real?”

In the film era, there was an aura that surrounded the process of producing a photograph. People were genuinely amazed by the mechanical process of exposing and developing a piece of film to make an image. But photography is so easy and accessible in the digital era that there is no longer an aura associated with the process. Now, the aura has shifted from the process and on to the subject. People want to know “is it real?” They want to know that the subject is something real…and if it is real…then the photograph has an aura.

Of course its all brilliant but Midway sent me somewhere. Its where innocence, greed and fear collide. Or maybe its innocence meets confusion of purpose. Or…

Thanks for putting me in-touch with all that is.
Now I can love and cry at once, yet again.

I’d personally personally favor Google. Both FB and Google would benefit from it, but we would almost certainly benefit more from Google taking it over. In the case of Google+ it is just a matter of time. Facebook was lucky it didn’t truly should compete with something as “good” as facebook, the competition was just lacking a lot of features in addition to a global approach.Google+ is outstanding to Facebook, but it really has a bigger challenge to acquire popular.Just evaluate VHS and Betamax. Betamax was better but lost due to bad marketing/licensing.Danny recently posted..Black & Decker NPP2018 18-Volt Cordless Electric Pole Chain Saw

Thanks for your post. I also believe laptop computers have gotten more and more popular today, and now in many cases are the only sort of computer used in a household. This is because at the same time potentially they are becoming more and more economical, their working power keeps growing to the point where there’re as robust as desktop computers out of just a few in years past. jdei726ya
